The main purpose of Praise and Worship music is to enable the congregation to corporately worship God in one voice of praise and adoration. The word worship means to, “Ascribe worth to something, to show God’s worth.”  True worship should come from our hearts. When we worship God corporately, our goal as musicians should be to help others see God’s Majesty, to bring God’s glory and presence down to His Worshippers. We want to magnify the name of the Lord. 1 Chronicles 16:8–10 says, “Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.”

 

When we worship the Lord in unity with songs, we want God’s people to reach their fullest potential spiritually as they lift Him up.
