OUR BELIEFS

We have accepted the following Declaration of our Faith and Core beliefs as the standard and official expression of our doctrine.

Declaration of Faith

  1. We believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things. (Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14)

  2. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, was crucified, dead, buried, resurrected; that He ascended into Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and is true God and true man. (Luke 1: 26-35; John 1 14-18; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6)

  3. We believe the Bible, in its entirety, to be the inspired Word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and conduct. (II Timothy 3:16; I Corinthians 2:13)

  4. We believe in the Church as the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with each born-again believer as an integral, sovereignly placed, functioning member. (Ephesians 2:21-22, 3:16)

  5. We believe in the salvation of sinners by grace, through repentance and faith in the perfect and sufficient work of the cross of Calvary by which we obtain remission of sins. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12, 22; Romans 5:11)

  6. We believe in water baptism by immersion as a declaration of a “true change of citizenship” and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:34-36, 19:1-6)

  7. We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the visible evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. We believe that all are available to believers today. (I Corinthians 12-14).

  8. We believe in apostolic teachings of the New Testament as the sole authority of the Church governance.

  9. We believe Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.

  10. We believe Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.

  11. We believe in prayer, fellowship and breaking of bread.

  12. We believe in tithes and offerings and giving to other similar ministries.

  13. We believe that there is one true universal Church, made up of genuine believers, but this one universal Church is also composed of many local Churches in given localities. (Acts 15:22; with Matthew 16:18, 18:15-20)

  14. We believe in the bodily resurrection, eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

  15. We believe in the soon-coming, personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 14:2-3; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Core beliefs

The Word of God

  • We believe the whole Bible to be entirely and equally inspired and that it is the inscribed Word of God, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

God the Father

  • We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of man, He hears and answers prayer, and He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for his people, and personal, visible return to earth.

The Holy Spirit

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, who comes forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.

The Trinity

  • We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

Regeneration

  • We believe all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Saviour are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, enter the kingdom of God and delight in the blessings of the new covenant: the forgiveness of sins, the inward transformation that awakens a desire to glorify, trust, and obey God, and the prospect of the glory yet to be revealed. Good works constitute indispensable evidence of saving grace.

Apostolic Teachings

  • We believe in the entire teachings handed over to the apostles by the Lord Jesus Christ to build his Church. Hence our worship, preaching, teaching and evangelism is in accordance with the pattern or model found in the new testament church as described in the book of Acts.

The Ordinances

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christian Conduct

  • We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well-being of his fellowman, that his conduct should be blameless before the world, that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.

Marriage

  • We believe in God as the Creator of all things. We believe that God created man and that He created them male and female. As such He created them different to complement and complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage—between male and female only—as the foundation of the family, the basic structure of human society. Accordingly, this church will only recognize, condone or perform marriage ceremonies between individuals of the opposite biological sex. Same-sex marriages, civil unions and domestic partnerships are not in keeping with God’s design and plan for marriage and relationships or the church’s beliefs, despite what the laws of the state may establish.

Ministry

  • We believe that both men and women should be encouraged to serve Christ and to develop their full potential in the manifold ministries of the people of God. The distinctive leadership role can be seen within the church where qualified men and women are grounded in creation, fall, and redemption and must not be in sidelined by appeals to cultural developments.
